Also worth noting that I played around with the micro focus adjustment in the field and settled on +1 as being centre for DOF on my copy of the lens

MedicineMan4040 The Magic Johnson of Cameras More info | I also have 100-400ii, keeping it and the 400DOii. Each has an advantage/disadvantage compared to the other. flickr

Gadgetvet Hatchling 3 posts Likes: 7 Joined May 2016 More info | I'm thinking I'll sell the 100-400 and buy the new 300 f4 PRO for my mirrorless OLY. I rarely used the zoom anyhow, and the small amount of dust it sucks up messes with my brain even though I know it doesn't affect image quality.

MedicineMan4040 The Magic Johnson of Cameras More info | Gadgetvet, Poof (the better half) has the Oly 300/4 and I have the Leica 100-400; we are often comparing them. I take the Leica everywhere everyday...it's here in Iceland with me as I type. We were in the swamps of Florida a couple of months ago and on a boardwalk. I got the shot, she did not because there was no way for her to move forward or backward without being in the drink. No doubt it's a phenomenal lens, she's let me shoot with it and obviously can go lower in light than I can with the Leica...just something to think about. flickr

Philihase Member More info | May 25, 2016 00:56 | #381 Time for a couple more. First up a Euro Green Finch looking a bit shadowy. Second a local farm cat. Viscous little sod called Peter. Loving the lens so far. Really is what I was looking for, nice and light for long hikes round the local area and great for hand holding for those times when you are waiting for a bird to turn its head and are staying on target. MFA´d it a tad (+2) which seems to be par for the course on my 7D2 as my 100-400 is +3. I first used my normal method for this, a can of coke on some block paving and ended up at +2 then decided to give dottune a try for the first time and it worked out at +2 as well so I´ll probably stick to coke cans Image hosted by forum (794998) © Philihase [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. I never before thought of Cattle Egrets as subjects, but they have their own charm. These are handheld, modest crops. May 31, 2016 18:32 | #386 Well 800mm with 1.6crop sensor and 2x manual crop, you could argue it is 2500mm effective, but yes 1280 without cropping. Edward Jenner
