Finally... after months of let downs and disappointment, bad weather and crap light, a not-boring bird finally found itself in front of my camera on a day with excellent light! I think it's a Sharp Shinned Hawk, though could very well be a Coopers...

Image isnt cropped, so I have some room to cut in closer if I want to fill the frame.

Indeed quite beautiful! My vote is Cooper's Hawk and an excellent portrait. I've never seen one but sure like looking at this on.

As the temperatures warm, these Pilly's are starting to dig for emerging insects in logs that are on the ground. Just gotta figure out how to sneak up on them!

Good tip, sir. I actually have one of those, and have gotten some good shots while using it! Now that I know where they're landing and foraging, I should be able to get a good vantage point. I'm usually too lazy to set it up though, as I'd rather just go on foot and hope for the best

Springtime in Texas

I look forward to these Azalea blossoms every spring, they are very early this year. Not really a macro lens, I know. These are handheld, right at MFD, about 11' and are cropped a bit for composition, resampled for the forum server.

This was under a passing cloud, stopped down to get some DOF:

This was in the bright sun, lots of bees around, many tangled up in the filaments. Tried for a BIF, no luck, so far:
