Or what the G1xII should have been. It really looks like a well thought out package. This is the type of camera that I could get behind.

I think I'm actually more excited about the lx-100 then I am about the 7D2

Of course I've been looking for a large sensor compact camera for backpacking and traveling when I can't/don't want to take my dslr. I've been eyeing the rx100 series but I think this just moved to the top of the list. I'll have to wait till it get released to see how it does in the real world.

Looks very promising though!!

What about the new Leica D-LUX ? Same camera longer warranty and comes with Lightroom. $300 more than the Panasonic Lx100 but it has the Leica branding.

Canon 5d mark I, Canon 60d gripped, Tokina 11-16mm 2.8, Canon 50mm 1.8, Sigma 85mm 1.4, Sigma 35mm 1.4 ART, Rode videomic, Glidegear

They basically made the G1X II a bit thinner and added a viewfinder and better external controls. This is the first camera I've really, really wanted in this decade.

My only dislike of the camera so far (and its me just looking for something to nit pick) is that while it has a m43 sensor in it its not actually using the whole sensor.

But even still, it's a larger sensor then the g1x and rx100 so we'll see how it does against those two.

Yeah, I guess Panasonic could only get the lens to 2.2x crop and didn't want to create a whole new sensor just for this camera.

So if we compare:

G1X II = 1.9x crop
Panasonic LX100 = 2.2x crop
G7 X/RX100 = 2.7x crop

G7x and RX100 are only a 1.2x crop from the LX100, though, so not a whole lot in it, really.

I like the Panasonic GM5 the most but I hate the 1/50s flash sync :).

Nikon/Fuji.
Gear is important but skills are very important :)
