I was wondering if anyone had seen any updates or new info on the YN300W that made a bit of a blip back a few months ago, with comments about it being released sometime around now.

I found one site apparently claiming to sell them, but at nearly double the price that was kicked around in the articles I had seen on it, and nothing from Yongnuo itself. Pretty much every other hit I've gotten on Google has been from blogs reposting the same initial bit of news on the thing.

While it isn't an excessively powerful unit, the rumour of it possibly being in the near or even sub-$300 price range makes it sound very tempting to build a multiple light setup around.

have to say I'm disappointed, I think I'd consider the RL600 from adorama over that.

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

Yeah, but why would ThePhotoGadget be selling them before Yongnuo itself is? I do agree that at around the $500 mark I'm not really interested, but I was hoping that was some kind of bait and switch thing on that site's part, and not the real YN300W.

I and many others have purchased from the photo gadget on ebay, been reliable so far. The 622s will work with the RL600 with the right cord.. I'm still fuzzy on what sort of modifier mount those have on them though.

I'm curious about the 1/50,000 second flash duration that they're claiming and if this is a t.5 or t.1 time. Since they don't specify, I'm going to assume it's t.5...but I'm still hoping against hope that it's the t.1 duration. That would mean wonders for high speed photography.

The 622s wouldn't need a cord, there's a hotshoe (there's a photo of a 622 mounted), the light has a Bowens type S mount.

It's too much money at that price.

Other IGBT lights can be triggered with the 622s and have all the same benefits, except ETTL which is less use in a studio. But the Godox ones are lots less money (less than £200).

Anyone know if they are planing on releasing a North American verison of this? The specs both on ThePhotoGadget and Yongnuo's website itself show the Supply voltage: AC185~265V 50Hz

This will not work in North America.

I contacted a YN dealer and asked him about them. He said that the strobes work well but you do need to have them plugged into a power inverter to convert it to 220V to use them. I kinda lost interest in the strobes after that.
