I just downloaded & installed DPP-4, to view & evaluate some of the 7D-2 raw files from Imaging Resource.

I'm familiar with DPP-3, but I'm finding the DPP-4 interface somewhat confusing.

The Imaging resource .CR2 file opens in a "small" window, is the size of a thumbnail, & I'm not finding a way to display it full size.

I'm not having that problem with my 6D raw files; so I'm not sure what's going on with the Imaging resource raw files?

Canon has not updated DPP with the 7D2 codes. I suspect this will not happen until the camera is released.

Try to convert it to DNG, might or might not work. Worth a shot.

UP-DATE:

Oddly enough, "these" files opened just fine in Photoshop CS-6 / ACR

Don't know if there has been an update to ver. 4, but it was originally released for full frame models only.

"Duh" on me! --- You're absolutely right.

The files opened fine in DPP-3

That's strange. I tried open them yesterday using DPP 3.14.15.0 and they wouldn't open. I just tried again with the same result. No preview image, just a square where the image should be and no way to edit it. The only thing I'm getting is the EXIF data.

This didn't work for me. It showed the thumbnail preview image but I couldn't edit it or even display the EXIF data. With DPP 3 I was able to see the EXIF data. Oh well.

Looks like I was wrong in thinking that Canon was putting all new bodies into DPP4, and it seems they updated 3.14 instead for the 7D2 raw files now. Seems like an odd turn of events unless they wanted to leverage code that was in 3.14 from the 7D and other APS-C bodies.

I may be missing something, but the raw file linked above is from 2010, and is stated to be from a 7D - not a 7DII. Any 7D file should open in LR 3.14.xx. Somebody help me out, please.

Don't worry about those, just pull the raw files for the 7D2 announcement from Imaging Resources, if you would like to do some comparisons.

Here are some raw links:
