Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info Post edited over 8 years ago by Nathan. | May 12, 2015 14:44 | #257 My parents took a photo of me as a toddler naked. With friends and family, they would always have a good laugh when flipping through the photo album and coming upon that picture. One day in 7th grade, I hid the photo. I kind of regret that. I wish I remember where I hid it. It was no big deal. Uhm... no pun intended. Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

May 14, 2015 11:16 | #258 How silly.... I have one photo on Flickr that has lots of traffic, because it appears when you google image search 'cute girl in pink' Couldn't be more proud of my little girl, hope the world sees her as beautiful as I do. Sadly though, the day I took the picture below I got hassled by a group of mom's complaining I was taking pictures at a members only private pool. They got the pool staff involved, and after some conversation and deliberation, the pool staff luckily agreed there wasn't a problem with me taking pictures at the pool. Though they did ask I try to avoid taking pictures of others the best I could, since it's private property, they're free to set their rules. Luckily though hysteria didn't win out that day so I got the following shot, pure happiness. IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/sArTMU It would be sad if we were forced to miss out on great moments, because we couldn't take pictures. The irony of it all, is there are more image capturing devices than ever before, but as soon as you show up with one that looks a little bigger, it becomes much more threatening. I see people taking snapshots with their camera phones all the time, and they never seem to be hassled, yet... bring a DSLR with a big white lens, and you become a target.

Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info | May 14, 2015 13:37 | #259 The stupid thing is that we're the object of scrutiny because we carry big, pervy cameras. If you were takings using a smartphone at the pool, I would be willing to bet that you would not be hassled by anyone. Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

Every day... millions of photos snapped with smart phones, capturing millions of people. No one bats an eye.

Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info | And the state legislation in Massachusetts that got a lot of press last year about taking photos of people's undergarments spawned from incidences of covert photography taken with smart phones, not big lenses and DSLRs. Although, I know that there were some articles written a few years back about photographers with larger gear at Downtown Crossing taking photos of women and their legs as they pass by, that's not the big problem. Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

The DSLR attracts more attention, quicker simply because it is more obvious. But once someone spots the phone, ipad etc, the response can be the same. GEAR LIST

But once someone spots the phone, ipad etc, the response can be the same. The one time I was accosted for "illicit photo taking", I was not taking photos but in fact setting my phone to silent, which some people misinterpreted as taking photos of their young daughters at a recital. I can see that too, it just seems like everywhere I go there are people using their phones to take pictures of their lunches, them selves, and whatever else surrounds them. I suppose in the same setting of a childs program, or at an amusement park/beach people may have the same averse reaction.
