We need more info. Was this in the info bar? Which camera? What mode?

The manual for your model will tell you. It's probably a warning of some kind. My G15 displays that symbol when the settings are such that blur is likely and I need a tripod.

No need to get testy and shout. Simply saying, "It's a warning icon explained on pages 23 and 376 of your manual" would suffice.

I don't have a 70D so I quickly googled it for you. It would appear that you set it using C.Fn III-3. In there you check the conditions for which you want the (!) warning to appear, uncheck them if you don't want it to appear.

I don't want to sound like the "read the manual" brigade, but I have never handled that camera or seen a manual for one. It took me less than a minute to find the answer through Google. Sometimes it is simpler to just look up the answer, rather than ask it in a forum and get others to do the legwork for you.

I used to leave those "let me google that for you" links on basic questions people used to always post on FB or other sites. Turns out, they don't like that very much

So, if you didn't like that question then what type of questions are acceptable here. I thought this was a Canon forum where Canon owners helped other Canon owners. You guys suggested that he look it up and he did. He just looked here instead of Google. If you don't like some ones question then just don't respond to it. tjs, i'm glad you got your answer but i'm sure it would have been a lot simpler without all of the rhetoric. I'm sorry I couldn't help you, i'm a NIKON owner.

It isn't that the question is unacceptable here, I have no problem with answering it which is why I took the time to go on google and find the answer for the OP.

I only suggested they google it for themselves as they could find the answer in a minute, rather than hanging around waiting for replies.

Sorry, my response wasn't directed at anyone in particular, more to the overall tone of the responses as a whole.

But the OP didnt look it up here. He had to be prompted to give enough information for members to look it up for him. Its not that users here don't want to be helpful, but a little effort on the OPs part goes a long way.

What does happen on occasion is that someone will buy a used body where the previous owner set a Custom Function and the new owner isn't aware of that setting and also doesn't know about how to reset the camera to all factory defaults. So, letting the user know about resetting to defaults is good, and in general telling the user to RTFM is a good thing, but of course if you know the answer to a specific question that can help as well:)!

would like to say sorry if i p****d anybody off with my question. after the answers i recieved i looked in the manual :). when a forum like this is created a lot of people stop looking for answers elsewhere and, just concentrate on here. having someone explain in simple terms what you need to do rather than the complicated versions you find in google ( not all the time ) is a whole lot easier.
