FF wide angle choice ?

At the moment I have a 60d and a Tamron 17-50 non vc and a Sigma 10-20 which I am very happy with.
I have just bought a used Canon 5d3 body but as yet I don't have a wide angle lens to go with it, the only lens in my kit bag is a 100 f2.8 that will be usable.
I am on a budget of £500 so I am open to suggestions as to which to go for.
I was leaning towards a canon 17-40 that gets some good reviews, but also some bad ones ?.
Sigma and Tamron also do WA lenses in my budget, which is another option to look at.
The main use will be landscapes so a fast lens is not that important.

On a budget, look into a used Tamron 17-35. Great optically. Pretty much on par with the Canon 17-40 optically.

You may not need a zoom also. You can look into wide primes. The Rokinon/Samyang 14 F2.8 is a great ultrawide on full frame, very sharp, easy to use, and inexpensive. Pair with a 24mm prime or 24mm end of a zoom and you have great options.

If you don't care about filter use, and you can handle flare strategies, the Tokina 16-28 F2.8 PRO is a very good lens too. And Tokina makes a 17-35 F4 as well that is cheaper.

I tested most of the UWA's for FF but also the third party's and Tokina is the best brand.

First choice : Canon 16-35 f4L IS (just ordered)
Best price/quality : Tokina 17 f3.5 ATX-Pro (Ebay only)
3nd choice : Tokina 16-28 f2.8 ATX-Pro

If you were happy with the FOV if your 17-50mm on the 60D then I'd recommend the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8.

If you can stretch the budget for a 16-35 f/4L IS, that's probably the best bet for landscapes. Granted, the IS isn't very useful for your purposes and simply inflates the price tag unnecessarily, but ignoring that it's great optically.

Otherwise, you'll have to accept at least one major compromise:

1. Canon 17-40 f/4L: great build quality, color and contrast, but edge and corner sharpness is generally poor

2. Tokina 16-28 f/2.8: good image quality, but very heavy, flare-prone and doesn't take filters

There is a Tokina 19-35 on the sale pages for $85. Best bargain I've seen in quite some time. Except for a tendency to flare, it is almost a 17-40. Yes, I've had both.

This most likely isn't the answer you want, I have a few lenses.
My favorite lenses are the TSE17mm and the TSE 24mm MK I.

I bought my Mark one TSE 24 MM used for slightly under 1000.00 bucks.

Hands down they are the one of the best landscape lenses...

The new(ish) Canon 24mm f/2.8 IS should be within your budget. You already have a 100mm lens. Later you could add a cheap 50mm lens, e.g. the f/1.8 or (better for landscape) the f/2.5 macro. This would give you a 24-50-100 lens set.

These days I usually use an ultrawide zoom and a macro lens for landscape. But I often shot with 24-50-100 with my Olympus film camera, and don't consider I'd be giving up much losing the zoom.

I don't consider 14mm very useful for landscape.

Its mushy at the corners, but you have to consider its also very affordable - the new 16-35 is a great lens, but costs twice as much. In comparison to that the 17-40 is a bargain.

Actually the (crop) factor is about 1.6x
