Congratulations in advance, Jeff! 27 years is definitely something to celebrate. We just celebrated our 19th last month.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

I pre ordered one for sports and what little bird shooting I do. I think it will make a nice second camera to my 5Dmkii for extra reach and hopefully speed.

Jeff, sounds like you really have a nice life. Really digging the truck/trailer type of traveling. Congrats on the 27 years and the great adventures you have in store on the road. Always nice to see the pictures that you post to share with us all.

It don't think it will take much to talk me into the new 7D II. That pre-order package is pretty enticing...

I think you might be surprised how much you like it.

Getting something now while I'm still interested and able to enjoy it is reason enough for me.... BUT, is there any "real" benefits to pre-order ?

Pre ordered earlier this week. Excited to get it and have a solid 2nd body. Took advantage of the 24-70 deal as well!

I'm really not sure except of the offer for the 25-70mm for $399 of which I think everyone should take advantage of. even if you have one you can sell it and make a buck. for that matter the 7D markII jacket as well. I have never pre ordered before.

I never got the 7D as I hated its ISO performance, however it was a solid action camera. Only used it a handful of times for jobs and a F1 race. However with the new improvements found the 7D2 and better ISO performance, as well as killer price, makes it worth while to own.

I am waiting for the Tamron 150-600mm owners first and see what they think before I pre-order. Hopefully someone will :) before I loose my patience. ;)

Congrats Jeff on your anniversary and 7d2. Me and my wife is approaching 17 years looking forward to grow old together.

I am very interested. I've been holding off on buying a new camera since....2007? Why? Because the features I wanted were not at the price point I was comfortable (nor capable as a teen back then) spending. Now that I'm off on my own, financing myself, I'll probably purchase this camera next summer once the price has settled, find out how low Canon is willing to rebate it, and also see what kinks are ironed out.

This camera has all of the features that I would be comfortable shooting with for the next 5-8 years without the bother of upgrading. When I saw the confirmed specs and the MSRP, I just leaned back in my chair and grinned.
