I bought the 70-200 2.8 IS II last November when the rebates were going on. Does the 5D III generally go on sale at that time of year as well and if so, approx. what's the final price after rebates etc.?
Debating on whether to wait for a sale or pick one up now.
Thanks in advance.

I bought a 5DmkIII several months ago. Looking at that and lens prices, it seems there is no difference in final prices. There's been a reduction in prices with lenses: basically is an instant rebate for them now (sale prices were reduced to the after mail-in rebate price). My 5DmkIII was the current price with $200 mail in rebate. The rebate wound up being an American Express debit card.

I think the only time prices really drop is when Canon is gearing up to release the successor product.

CPW is your friend. At this point it would be in your best interest to wait for Black Friday or possibly look at a refurb.

The lens price when I bought was a huge savings. It's $2299 now and I believe I paid $1899 after rebates etc.

I'm in no hurry and might consider a refurb.

Then keep on checking CPW: they do seem like the best place in finding deals. I'll probably try their street prices next time I'm in the market for a lens. It can be somewhat random when good deals present themselves.

Humm, looks like the 70-200mm might be slightly different then it was. When I got mine, it was $2499 with $300 mail in rebate. CPW's street prices can have significant savings.
