I like this...the addition of the lone figure adds a sense of scale to it that probably wouldn't be there otherwise.

you know, I wasn't really thinking that when I took the picture, but you're right and I really should keep that in mind for the future. yeah, it's hard to tell how big some things are--I remember a pic of just a piece of a glacier posted here, and apparently it was humongoid, but in the pic it could have been the size of a rock. thanks for noticing.

thanks guys for the props!--I appreciate them.

that day a friend was visiting, which wasn't a photog. that's always a bad combo, ha ha but she was a trooper and didn't complain while I examined every scene in detail, taking forever at each spot. earlier in the day when I was scoping out locations for the final sunset shot (they force you out after sunset @ Point Lobos) I took this shot at the same location, but looking backwards:
