Hey,

I took both the Canon 5D MK III and the Nikon D810
on a recent photo shoot.

Here is my video comparison of the two Cameras.

This video is for entertainment only. It is not a scientific
review. I also didn't follow any strict guidelines.

Basically behind the scenes footage of a Photo shoot and
my thoughts on working with the two cameras.

I'm guessing you were more focused on taking photos than really out there to compare cameras? Because if your aim was more comparing cameras, then this was not a very good effort.

A number of things I saw from the video:
1) What's with the blair witch project shooting style of swinging back and forth for the video? Sort of pointless, but that's just my opinion.
2) Model 1 you showed using one camera (I believe the Canon), but then when you switched to Nikon, you had her change clothing. There didn't appear to be an earnest effort to compare and limit your variables.
3) What lenses were used for both systems? I know lenses make a difference in initial contrast/saturation. My 50 1.0 vs. 1.2 shows clear difference in this even under exact settings.
4) Distance between model and strobe seemed inconsistent and fluid.

Again, if this was mostly a Behind-the Scene video, you succeeded. As a comparison, this was nowhere near the mark.

Just my worthless $0.02 of constructive criticism. Better title would have been "Behind the Scenes w/ 5D3 and D810".

+1

The same lens? No split screen images with the 5D3 and D8100, using same model, clothing , pose...

Very close, but I'll let you decide.

Selena Gomez trying to show off a crazy cell phone case @ 1:02.

I liked the video. By the way, are you in Arizona? I saw your subscription avatar is a shot of you in Monument Valley.

First off...

My apologies to the Nasa Engineers on this
forum.

My lab results are less than perfect.

I intended to have a little more structure but
the shoot didn't quite go as planned.

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada but I went
to visit some family in Phoenix in Feb.

I drove 8 hours to get that shot of Monument
Valley.

The Monument Valley shot was taken with the Canon 5D MK III
and the Canon 24-70 MK II zoom. It is a 5 image HDR.

I enjoyed the Selena Gomez comment.

There both very good cameras.

And I've taken some horrible images
on both, lol.

Sorry but you were too kind in your appraisal.
Bluntly there was virtually no direct comparison.
Edited when I realised it was not a pro evaluation.

I updated my original post to reflect
that this video is for entertainment
purposes and not a scientific comparison
of the two cameras.

Just a behind the scenes of a Photo shoot
video with two top dslr's and my thoughts on
which camera I prefer.

It is my opinion only.

You really need to examine the raw files on a high resolution
calibrated monitor to see the actual differences.
