I currently have a gen ii 2x canon extender. That being said, I just ordered a brand new 70-200L 2.8, will my extender work with this lens, or is the version iii needed?
Thank you,
-james

apersson850 Obviously it's a good thing More info | The only difference between using the mark III extenders, instead of the mark II generation, is that Canon have made some optimizations regarding the cooperation between the extenders and more recent lenses as far as AF goes. The mark III extenders are also improved from an optical point of view and (perhaps even more important?) mechanically. There are more screws holding the flanges of the bayonet mount in the mark III versions, for example. With more frequent use of heavy lenses, I can imagine that being a good improvement. Anders
