Thanks for all your replies. In the end I bought the 1 hour Energizer recharger and 4 2500mAh batteries for £24.99. Salesman tried to insist the price was £34.99 despite the clear price ticket; stood my ground.
I am amazed how much better they hold their charge than alkalines and recycling is much faster.

That's great, you will find they need a few cycles to settle down, 3-6 cycles should do it. Like you have found they charge very quick in the flash unit.

Does the charger have a slow mode? if so use it every 5 or 10 cycles. Rapid charging I have found give shorter life span on cells.

I have a few cells now over 10 years old, they still work but have never been fast charged. And I have had cells that have only been fast charged and now are dead after 3 years of service.


With my charger I can change the charge rate to any speed I like (6 levels) but before I had this charger I used a two hour fast charger and a over night slow charger.
