Sep 23, 2014 00:02 | #3 Definitely depends on what you use it for. I wouldn't consider bringing the 85 1.2 to a volleyball match but the 1.8 is fantastic for indoor sports. Outdoor portraits, the 1.2 is king, imo 5D Mk IV | 24-105L | 85 1.8 | 70-200L 2.8 IS MkII | 100-400L MkII

It depends of your priorities... but the king of the 85mm is still the Canon L f/1.2, if you're bokeh-olic! Canon 5D MkII + Sony A7 + 24x36 & 6x6 B&W film cameras .

Indeed, the cheapest is the 85mm f/1.8 USM and it's the fastest focusing. To some this makes this the best. GEAR LIST

sirquack Goldmember More info | Sep 23, 2014 15:47 | #9 What do you find wrong with the 85 1.8? I have that lens and it is my go to lens in dark conditions. It is also tied for first in focusing speed of my lenses. And the other lens it ties with is an "L" lens, so it hangs with lenses that cost much more than it did. Name is Ron.

snake0ape Goldmember More info | Sep 23, 2014 21:23 | #11 Well the 85L 1.2 is slightly sharper at f1.8 than the 85 1.8 at f1.8. Sigma is also better if you trust the focus consistency. 5Diii | 50D | 8-15L 4| 16-35L 2.8 II| 24-70L 2.8 II | 70-200L 2.8 IS II |Tamy 150-600 | Σ35Art 1.4 | 40 2.8 | Σ50Art 1.4 | 85L 1.2 II | 100 2.8 Macro | Helios 44-3 58mm f2.0 |Helios 40-1 85mm f1.5 | 1.4x & 2x teleconverters
