Could do with a reflector, or fill flash. He is a cutie though! ;)

I'm not a pro, but I like it as is. The slight shadows tell much about the time of day. It's real, nothing artificial about it.

Nice expression. I'd have tried to find somewhere that the sun wasn't quite as harsh on the background.

Thank you! I plan on submitting more to these forums, the last couple times i have gotten a lot of great feedback. It will be nice to be a more active member and less of a silent bystander!

I started with the same lens as you - they have served me well for mostly action shots. Added the 200/2.8 for longer shots, and 55-250 for daytime walk-around. I eventually found that my copy of the 50 didn't AF fast enough, so switched to the (cheap) new 40/2.8 STM.

Remember to be free with your clicking - it's simple to delete shots that don't "fit", but sometimes an extra click will catch that special expression. I once took some pics of my adult daughters, and caught one sticking her tongue out at me! It was really cute. The same goes for action - the expressions and positions change quickly, and multiple shot help catch the "best" pic. I once caught my dog's tongue licking the nose of my grandson. Years of fun!!!
