I would like to get a macro lens for my Canon SX50. Any thoughts? I would like an affordable solution if possible.

Pictures taken with your favourite macro lens on an SX50 welcomed. :)

You don't really have a whole lot of options there. You need to find something that'll "bolt on" to the front of the existing lens, which limits how heavy it can be. So essentially, you're looking at diopter adjustment ("close-up") lenses. How great a magnification do you want/need and at what kind of working distance? In macro, there are always tradeoffs.

Wouldn't Raynox clip on macro lens work?

Here's a link on Flickr for "macro,raynox,sx50" combined search terms;

Looks like lots of examples using the Raynox macro/close-up lenses.

I used a 67mm Canon 500D CloseUp Filter attached to a 3 position rubber hood which was attached to the Canon Filter adapter.
It's a color corrected doublet so you don't get the out of focus color fringing you get with the cheap +1,+2,+4,+10 cheap closeup lens sets.

This setup does not overpower the zoom motors. Used it for over 3 years on the SX40HS and now it's used on the SX60HS.

Gets you scary bug eye pics when zoomed all the way out.:)

Lotsa stuff, running outta room and a wife...I keep looking at her and wondering??? :lol:
