I'm curious to know how many members would like to know in advance of new cameras being released by Canon.
And what are the benefits to Canon one way or the other.
I believe Nikon already do this.

Feb 19, 2006 19:51 | #2 It does help to be told when something is about to hit the shop windows.... If you have advance notice you can start the xtra drinks to prevent dehydration due to over-drooling. If you caught by surprise-- if you are blind sided -- you may not have some scottowels or tissues handy and it can be embarrassing. Having a bad day? Feeling down? Knowing that I'm preparing an upgrade within the next couple of weeks, it could help me decide whether to hang on another week or two or go ahead and make my purchase. Happy Shooting, Herb

Basic rule of marketing - keep your customers in the dark for as long as possible [In regards to new products], so you can sell as many of the old stock, for as high a price as possible, for as long as possible. I deplore this style of tactic, but every major manufacturer does it. I consider it treating your customers with contempt, but many others are these equipment forums think that it's perfectly and morally ok.

Brian I for one would love advance warning of any new models from Canon - like a 10.2MP SLR to combat the Nikon model with the same Pixel count. Bob Leask Photography

Canon announces in Feb and August and delivers a month later. If you announce to early Canon won't be able to get rid of current camera stock from retailers. 5D, Drebel, EOS-3, K1000
