Great shots Capt. I will be down second week of October and will probably make the trek to The Ranch again to try for a couple pictures again.

CaptBob,

Very nice photographs. What a colorful bird.

I haven't seen a Caracara this far north in Florida but I've only been seeking out local birding sites for two years now. The La Chua trail portion of Paynes Prairie is starting to come alive again and a new wetlands park will be open to the public sometime later this year. Lots of birds have already found a nice place to reside there, according to the our local Audubon chapter.

I would love to photograph a Caracara but I might have to make a trip to make that possible.

thanks- I feel sure you could find some around Paynes Prairie- ask around and check fence posts around cow pastures

Hey Bob, those are great! This bird is gonna be a priority when I get to Texas this season. Not to be contrary, but I like the "pop" and color better in the 1st shot. Maybe isolate the bird's head, body and legs and then NR? Just a thought.

thanks for encouragement
