Hello community,
I would love to replace my very uncomfortable camera strap (5D MKIII). I am perfectly aware about Black Rapid and other similar solutions, but I am looking for something that I was use with my camera when I have my RRS plate on it and something that will work when I have my camera on a tripod.

What options do I have? Thank you.
Regards,

This one should work...

I have no experience with it though, just considering it myself. Will be watching this thread closely for other options.

Take a look at the Luma Labs Loop 3: http://luma-labs.com/pages/loop (external link)

I screw mine directly into my L bracket.

Thanks. Just wondering....how do you use it with the tripod?
It doesn't seem to work with a tripod.....

By "using with a tripod" are you referring to the ability to rapidly detach the strap leaving essentially the camera ready to be mounted to the tripod?

No....I mean having strap on a camera and being able to use it on a tripod:-)

The RRS type ones work.

Here's what to do :)

Don't hook the strap up through the tripod socket. Instead, get a small op-tech loop. Put the loop through your camera strap holder on the left hand side.

Then when it comes time to use the strap simply hook it through the loop. Bonus point is that it's actually the spot designed to support the weight of the camera, and it can't unscrew. And when not in use it's just a tiny cloth loop. It's strong and can support a TON of weight, no way it'd ever break.

If you do it right the camera will still hang "flat" off the strap, as well. Try it, you'll see. It's the way to go, forget the tripod socket.

Here's the one i use: http://optechusa.com …nectors/utility-loop.html (external link)

Luma Cinch hooked in to an arca style plate. Luma sells one or you can use a RRS type bracket. If you want to get totally fancy schmancy then you can also add some quick release clips.

Pilgrim,

I don't like keeping my strap attached to my camera when I'm using my tripod or monopod. It tends to get in the way, for me at least...plus if there is a breeze, it adds vibrations. So in my case, I looked for a strap that was simple, quick and easy to attach and detach. The Luma Loop falls into that category.

I also have a Luma Cinch 1... and I paid as much for the quick release clamp as I did for the strap itself, just to have a way to accomplish the easy on/off: http://www.reallyrightstuff.com …mp-with-strap-bosses.html (external link)

Any strap you like would work fine with an Op Tech utility loop ;) :

There is also the new Peak Design strap and their quick connector system, although they've had issues with the new connector so you may want to check and see if they've fixed that yet.

Something like this (external link) would work (LGT Adorama). I haven't done it myself as I so rarely end up on a tripod it's just easier to tie the strap to one of the legs if I want to get it out of the way.

With respect to comfort, my Luma Cinch is really really REALLY nice. I can tighten it up and have the camera essentially glued to my back or have it hanging fairly loose. The shoulder pad has a little bounce to it to help shock absorb. It's a great strap, much better than the stock canon Torquemada model, and more stable than my old tamrac N25.

Both my Cinch 1 and Loop 3 are very comfortable. I've walked for a few hours at a time with my 70D and 70-300L attached and I can almost forget they are on my body.

I just got the Loop 3 as it's fairly new and I don't know for sure which one I like better.
