Certainly I would avoid having hard metal hanging loose next to the camera body. The photo shows what damage can occur. Standard Canon strap is a disaster.....it kills my neck....when I am carrying 5D MKIII and 70-200 F/2.8 lens on it. Plus....not really a fault of Canon, but I scratched my camera 2 times when I was carrying it in the backpack....because of the strap. www.lightpilgrim.com

I've been carrying my camera like that since the RS-5 strap came out and it's not been an issue. VanillaImaging.com

At the age of 67 I regularly use my 5D2 with a 100-400L and 1.4x converter on the standard strap. Sometimes all day at a race meeting, with no trouble at all. Richard

Sep 29, 2014 04:15 | #26 FoxTrot wrote in post #17177837 I was going to do this too and tried it out (still might go back to it). However, I ordered the RRS plate when I recently ordered my head to use with my BR strap: ![]() ![]() Not the best pics, but you get the idea, and you can see my Op Tech utility loop on there for added security (could even just loop that through the RRS plate on the camera to leave the strap still attached to the camera in a way when using a tripod after sliding the strap QR plate off, but it would be awkward). what kind of setup is this? I never even thought about the strap being in the way when i got my RRS l plate. I haven't used it yet as i haven't done much photography lately. But im guess the cannon neck strap and hand strap will be impossible to mount with the L plate? |Canon 80D|40D backup|24-105 F4/L|Sigma 70-200 F/2.8|Sigma 150-500 C|

Love that you can also add extenders to make it longer and is more secure.

Joby arca plate with two op/tech utility straps. I don't trust the third party battery grip to hold the weight of the camera below it, so i run a second strap up to the strap lug.
