Troglodytes the Nemesis

I have for years loved the little winter wren, Troglodytes troglodytes. It was so named, the cave-dweller, by Linnaeus. Of 63 species of wren, it is the only one which exists outside the Americas; it has crossed the Bering Strait to colonize much of Asia, Europe, N. Africa, and the Middle East. It is the wren in Britain, the jenny wren. Its melodious, high pitched song is beautiful and indescribable, but they are much more often heard than seen, preferring to scurry about in down timber and the forest floor, much like a mouse. I see them only rarely, but today was the day for photographs!
