NEW photos added September 9, 2015.

I'm finally ready to share the story of "HOPE". On September 8, 2014, my friend, and I were out riding our horses in a remote area a couple of miles from home when we heard a screaming coming from the woods. At first I thought it was a bird, then the more it screamed, I realized it was a cat. Then I said, "it's a kitten." Someone had dumped a kitten where no one would have found it. No one but us that is! We were in the woods, at least a mile from any house. My friend jumped off her horse and picked up the kitten. With a phone call, the kitten had a ride home. We preferred, not to carry it on our horses!
The kitten had been bitten, but otherwise was in good condition. She was put on an anti-biotic for the four puncture wounds. I think they were from one bite...but when you are only 6 weeks old, that one bite could have been fatal. According to the vet, the rabies worry should be over now...it's been over 10 days.

She was so badly infested with fleas that I had to bathe her immediately. She was also full of internal parasites.

The next day we rode to this spot again to see if there were any more kittens. We found one that didn't survive. We also found the Huggies Diaper box that they were dropped off in..so hard to belief people can do such a thing.

A few days later, the kitten was watching the rain slide down the window. It was at this moment, that she got her name...There's always Hope. It seemed like the perfect name.

Reflections of Hope! It was so funny watching her try to get to the "other" kitten! I have lots more pictures that I HOPE to add to this thread soon!

Beautiful end to a sad story. You really have to wonder how some people are so callous about the lives of animals and other people as well. You did a good thing here. Nice images also. :)

Thank you all for taking the time to comment. This was a very emotional rescue, especially knowing the rabies risk. The entertainment value of having a kitten in the house is priceless! She picks on our two large dogs, and three cats, which include a Maine Coon cat with a grumpy attitude! This little kitten is fearless, towards other pets, but a tiny mouse had her a bit jumpy this morning!

Thank you! Hope is a female, and still rules our hearts! Comic relief on a daily basis.

This kitten will receive so much love in my home, as do a number of other rescues, both dogs and cats!

It's lovely to see that a beautiful little kitten has been given another chance, and it seems it's found a good home!

Wonderful story Sandy, and good for you. My heart melted just a bit for the kitten, and also for you....you did a very good thing, unlike the #%¥>%%# that did that. (Edit.....your pics are priceless too :) )

Thank you! When pets come to our home, they are here for life. And we try to make certain that they have a good life.

Thanks Ian. It's been 8 years since our youngest cat was a kitten, so Hope is more entertaining than anything on TV! I came in the house yesterday afternoon and she was napping with my hubby...on his chest...priceless! This morning she was stalking our German Shepherd. Usually she is biting our Chocolate Labs tail, who just gets up and walks away.
