So something really weird happened yesterday afternoon as I was going through various folders in Lightroom. The program stopped responding and I got the standard 'This program has stopped working...' message. So I closed the program, reopened it, and to my surprise the original splash screen showed up (which I had turned off) and then when Lightroom finally opened, all my photos were lumped into one massive catalog. When i went to 'open recent catalog' none of my other catalogs were there! Not going to lie, pucker factor set in rather quickly. At this point I also noticed that all my viewing preferences were 'reset' to their defaults. Thankfully all my presets were still there. Thankfully the .lrcat files were where they were supposed to be, but i had to manually tell Lightroom to find/open them. Now it is a matter of re-customizing my preferences.
Anyone have any idea what the heck happened? And if so, if/how I can recover my settings easier? Any input on this one is much appreciated. :)

I have no clue, our systems are pretty complex and can do pretty crazy things!
