I've go the YN-602 set but probably need an extra receiver, so now I was thinking if I should just upgrade to the YN-622?

The units look to be quite a bit larger than the 602's physically - is that accurate? What do they bring in terms of new features or improvements over the 602s?

yes... you can control the flash as if were mounted to your camera... no more walking over to adjust power settings...

622's are nice if you need ETTL. Another thing good about them is that they do have a focus assist light.

And what is the YN-622C-TX? Just a convenience handheld device to control? Because the canon has built-in control within the menus, no?

The tx is just more convenient to change the flash settings rather than having to got through the 2 sub menus in the camera. Also older cameras like the 5dc don't have the ability to change the flash settings via the camera menus so the TX gives you this functionality

One more question! :)

What if I have non-yongnuo and non-canon strobes? i.e. a big godox light - it wouldn't work through the 6cc would it? Would it be impossible to configure remotely?

Im not sure about that to be honest, the best person to ask is the POTN member called CliveyBoy, he has produced an in depth guide to the Yongnou triggers, try posting in this thread:

No manual flashes such as the Godox AD360 cannot be changed with the 622c. You can change it with an FT-16 though. Be aware that the 622Tx apparently has a shorter range as well.

The YN-622 has a PC sync port and can provide manual triggering for any light with a sync port.
