I am just curious what people do like more about a full frame UWA.

Option 1:
16-xx mm f/4.0 with IS which has a filter thread

Option 2:
14-xx mm f/2.8 without IS and without filter tread

So do you really need some extra range or extra stop or do you like a slower lens with a filter thread and IS more?

If you had to choose one for your style which one would you choose? And why?

8-15mm fish . Excellent lens if you feel right with a fisheye. No need IS with this lens , but that's what i prefer.

I haven't ever used either lens you mentioned above, and I guess a TSE 17mm isn't considered a UWA lens.

None that you listed!

(For fun) I like to "play" with a Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 with a 1.4X on a FF. This makes for about an 11-23mm f/6.3-8. It still retains AF, still sharp, and has relatively minor vignetting. Noticeably wider FOV than when on a crop camera with no TC. I prefer the rectilinear look over that of a fisheye (most of the time).

For use on important stuff, the 17-40L on FF.

Thanks for Reading & Good Luck - Jim

Heya,

It's all relative. Some like fisheye. Some don't. Some embrace the distortion. Some don't.

I like 8mm fisheye (aps-c) and 12mm fisheye (full frame).
I like 11-16mm F2.8 (aps-c), I like 17-40mm F4L (full frame).

It's all about what features you're after. What perspective you like. And again, what distortion you want to embrace.

Very best,

My 8-15 on 5D3 keeps the corners until about 13mm. It's a great UWA. I use the 17-40 too, neither of these lenses are a choice on your poll.

I love wide angle, but for landscape use. So I voted 16-XX.

Experimenting with a 14mm filtered. Really love the 14, but hate it due to the filter situation.... Now I have a filtered 14/but hardly any time...
