This was the first time to go to any type of drag racing With a camera, and I figured out pretty quick that I needed to have an orange vest and to be sitting on the wall next to the drag strip.
So many people to shoot around and sitting in the stands doesn't give you the best option for great pics.

My favorite pic is the 1st one of Doug Kalitta. The 2nd Kalitta pic is a bit overdone (processed) for my taste. Did you use LR for processing? If so, I would take the original pull back on the blacks and lighten the shadows to try a pull more detail from the engine. Might even try bumping the exposure up a bit. I do like the action you captured in the pic.

I use Paint shop pro x6. I have Lightroom 5 though.
Thanks, I thought I captured a few good ones for being up in the stands.

Shooting from the stands can be difficult with the people. The orange vest would help, but they are not easy to get.

Nice shots, I'll be leaving tomorrow morning for maple grove to shoot them. It'll be my first time with a orange vest at an NHRA race so, I've very excited to say the least. (Normally I shoot the outlaw heads up small tire cars at the local tracks) Sadly Saturday's weather isn't looking the best, they're saying rain all morning but, it's suppose to clear up in the afternoon.

I'll be there shooting for dragracingonline during qualifying, eliminations someone else is covering due to nhra rule of only one photographer on Sunday. Right now they're saying AM rain so I'm hoping they mean the early hours well before racing gets underway but, we will see. I'm just excited to do it and will make due with the weather conditions.
