Hello All.

I have a frend who had lended me his Youngnuo flash (no idea what model), and I was really suprised by it.

Now I am thinking to get 2 of these Youngnuo flashes, but what model should I look for, that is aproximately the same as a Canon 580EX or 580EXII?

Also Is it worth getting some TTL transcievers for these flashes, If I vant to fire them remotely, ir is it a complete waste of money?
In fact I am not really sure what the main difference is between a TTL and a non TTL transciever when remote shooting a flash.

Or would I be better off just picking up 2 430EX II's instead of the Youngnuos?

Thank you in advance.

Do you want or need HSS or ETTL? The YN-560 III is a manual only flash with a similar power rating as the Canon 580- use the 603c trigger for off camera use. The YN-565 is the same power, but adds ETTL capability- use the 622 ETTL capable trigger to fire off camera. The YN-568 adds ETTL and HSS- uses the 622 triggers as well.

Well I have multople uses in mind:

1. Multi flash Motorsports photography (at night)
2. Multi flash night person photogrpahy (rarely)
3. and all other fun stuff.

The thing i do not unserstand, how does a remote flash, set for example 10 meter away from the camera benefit from E-TTL.

If you ever think you might need ETTL remotely get the 622tx and 622 transceiver setup. It makes controlling them manually easier and means they'll be good for the occasional play with ETTL too.

ETTL can be useful with off camera flash, but I tend to set remote flashes manually. ETTL really comes into it's own in dynamic situations.

The YN568 is the only YN flash currently capable of HSS, I'd get one just in case, and 565s for just ETTL/manual.

Thank you Phil,

Yet how exactly does ETTL work on remote flashes?
I understand completely, how it works in case of a camera mounted flash, but I do not seem to understand, who that system is supposed to work on remote flashes.

^like Phil said , the 568exII is really the way to go. I purchased a couple of 560s and although useful they have a slow recycle rate and are cheap in quality IMO. When I do it again , im going to by a 600EX and a couple of 430EXII... im done playing with crappy 3rd party flashes
