Philihase Member More info | Sep 30, 2014 14:59 | #2 Kind of a wierd selection of images. Not the images themselves but the fact that they seem to stem for a photo workshop firm if going from the Flikr tags is anything to go by. Theres a couple more on their website by the way. Sep 30, 2014 15:07 | #3 Well, the images themselves do not seem to be ones that might show off the len's best qualities. None of them seem really well-planned and composed, but rather random "happy snap" type shots. One of the images was also at f/13, which is probably well into diffraction territory. Sep 30, 2014 15:21 | #4 Well they were obviously real world, hot sun and high contrast... plus shimmer etc. The detail on the hippo for 600mm has me excited. Even for f13,and the above environmental problems, the ox pecker shows feather detail I would not expect from such a zoom. I am impressed, simply as this lens is going to be quite cheap and looks sharper than my 100-400. http://natureimmortal.blogspot.com

Again, no problem if you take these while out with your family having a fun day at a zoo and then post them up on Flickr for all to enjoy. But really strange choice for a corporation selling lenses to use as the very first sample images of the lens. I personally think that the image shortcomings are much less a reflection of the lens and more of the technique, both photographical as well as post-processing (the deer in the field seems over-sharpened and the gazelle grazing is flat and tepid in contrast) ... but all the more reason not to use them as sample images! When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.

Interesting if the 'C' is coming out months later then I wonder how many people will wait or just go for the 'S' anyway? Edward Jenner

Too bad there are no examples of birds in flight/moving objects. That's why I pulled the trigger as the Tamron has been a disappointment in that respect; Although, I just got mine back from service, so we'll see if the update actually helps.

Yes, but honestly I still wouldn't trust them until someone 'respectable' here (or Canon Rumors or the like) gives the AF the thumbs up for BIF. Edward Jenner

Sep 30, 2014 22:47 | #14 The tamron's AF was fine I thought, even pretty good, it's the optics at 600 that could use improvement. Sony A7siii/A7iv/ZV-1 - FE 24/1.4 - SY 24/2.8 - FE 35/2.8 - FE 50/1.8 - FE 85/1.8 - F 600/5.6 - CZ 100-300 - Tamron 17-28/2.8 - 28-75/2.8 - 28-200 RXD
