So, according to the manufacturer's
instructions
, this product shouldn't be used on a polariser filter. Well, I did. I tried blowing on it and wiping and the whole surface just got wet with condensation and completely foggy. Tried lens cleaning liquid: same result. So, I gave it a good brush with the FilterKlear. That did clean it, but...
What can happen? Have I just damaged my polariser? Removed the coating?
TIA
Hi Tia,
Your Filter surface should be okay. Our products are designed to be completely safe on glass surfaces. They do not remove any coatings.
The reason we used to say "do not use on polarizing filters" is because some polarizing filters have an uneven surface and when you use our Filterklear on the filter, you can see some carbon left over, on the surface of the filter. This is because the surface is not completely smooth.
Now a days, the filters are protected by two glass surfaces on each side, rendering the Filterklear completely safe to use on those kinds of filters.
To conclude, our Filterklear as of recently, due to updated technology, no longer states "do not use on polarizing filters" because the camera industry has evolved.
