When shooting arachnids/insects, I try to either focus on a particular part of the animal in macro, or otherwise have the whole animal in the frame. A portrait orientation, or slightly more distance, would have allowed you to get the entire spider in the frame, and avoid chopping off some legs. Cheers, Damien
