70D is an upgrade in term of ergonomy more than IQ.

bigger VF, bigger body, MFA calibration, Dual AF in combination with swivel screen is fantastic, etc..

I have to admit I've been considering making the same upgrade, and being perfectly honest with myself, it's mostly about GAS. There are some features I'd like - the MFA, the built in level thing, the larger size (ergonomics), plus 20 mp won't hurt, but it's probably just as much about having a cooler camera. Funny how difficult these ideas are to shake loose once they lodge in your brain. Noticed the deal at Adorama for the next week, but I think I can resist it... maybe.

I'm considering a move from a t3i so mostly the same. And I'm claiming it's for double the fps and larger buffer plus video.

I come here for your expert opinion. Please do not hesitate to critique or edit.

If you want a fast camera and a camera for video, it would be tough to beat the value of a 1D3 and your T3i (especially with Magic Lantern).
