For the last year I kept telling myself I was going to put my 300 f/4 and my 16-35II up for sale. I just have not been using them. I kept dragging my feet, because I wanted money in hand. However, over the past few weeks the 300 has become my go to lens (son is playing football!) and I am so glad I wasnt more efficient at selling it off.

Anyone else have a lens they were about to get rid of, but then found new life for it and ended up happy its still part of the toolbox?

No... I want to sell my lenses so I can REGAS for them later. Keeps the addiction going.

I find that eventually I get good lenses that just chime with me, and I won't let them go. I haven't found a long lens (>150) that I get on with particularly well yet.

Won't get rid of the 135, the TS or the FE. not attached to the 50/1.8 but do love the focal length.

I don't particularly like the 50mm length, but found myself with 3 of them, 1.8 mkI, mk II, and the 2.5 macro. I The last two were acquired so cheaply it was a no brainer to get them. I finally sold the nifty, but only after I realized I was a lens hoarder.

I have sold and rebought many lenses... I just buy/sell depending on usage and planned trips and such. I bought a 35L (again) for my trip last weekend and fall activities the next few weeks and plan to sell it at the end of October. Most likely I will buy it back again!

I almost sold my 300 II a few weeks ago but had second thoughts... Kept it and was glad I did. I may not use it that often, but when I do the results are stunning!

Haha I do see a lot of people go through the cycle of buying and selling. Which I know can work out good, when it comes to beating rental prices for a lens that you aren't using that much.

I tend to be of the hoarder variety as well, not selling lenses. Even the ones I thought I just wasn't using. When it came to my 300 I just kept telling myself well with the 1.4 I get the same lens at 280mm (on the 70-200). It just isn't the same though! The 300 produces much better images than the 70-200 with TC.

The hoarder mentality paid off, now if I only I could find more use for my 16-35....

Hoarder here too. I did sell the 17-40 with getting the 16-35 f4 and also having the FL covered by the TS-E + extenders and the 10-22 on crop.

I did think about keeping it just in case something happened to the 16-35, but sold it instead.

I only sell what I replace with something better, only lens I ever sold is my 60mm macro, since I went FF and got the 100mm macro. I have some lenses I hardly ever use, but I know I'd just find the perfect use for them an hour after selling them, so I keep them :-)

I keep wanting to sell my 24-70, but I find myself using it enough to justify keeping it. Its so boring, yet it gets the job done
