Hello guys.

I was (and still am) very statisfied with all 2 of my Kata bags.
Unfortunately the Kata brand does not exist anymore :(

So I am wondering what Bag manufacturer to look for.
A bag MUST offer protection, also from rain, snow, and sun, and smaller drops.
It must be functional, and comfortable, should also include a Laptop compartment, and some room for a tripod, a bottle of water, etc.

It SHOULD be able to hold 1 DSLR body, and at least 4 lenses, 2 flashes, Cards, Batterys, charger, etc. (and as metioned before a 17" laptop, its charger, and a tripod)

Furthermore the manufacturer should give at least a 5 year warranty.

Any suggestions?

I assume you realize that Kata was merged with Manfrotto. They carry some of the same models, but the prices seem a bit higher to me. I generally fall back on Lowepro bags. They have some interesting and functional new models.

I know that Manfrotto purchased Kata, yet Kata bags were built in Israel, and Manfrotto is an Italian brand, now I have some ill experience with Italian quality, so I refuse to buy Manfrotto bags, and tripods.

It does not matter WHERE it is built, but from where the quality standard comes.
I have seen chineese product (multiple thousands of them) without any flaw.
(I had a job, where I was working with these products).
The reason why they did not have any fault at all, is the fact, that premium quality was demanded.

One of my friends actually worked for a company who have tested cars, so he had the pleasure drive some Ferraris.... He said: Its a bad car.
Its way too loud, and too stiff. Its fast as a bullet, and can turn into corners very fast.
But he also tested an Aston Martin, that was also fast as a bullet, and was able to turn into corners super-fast, but was comfortable, and not loud at all...

Guess what?! He owns an Audi quattro :)

Yesh they are going to fail at sny moment. Serioudly though, manfrotto is one of the most respected manufacturers of tripods, light stands, and other gesr. Whst makes you think they have quality problems beyond your xenophobia towards italy?

Well: Nothing, only my bad experience :)
But you know, its like this:
I buy a Samsung phone, and it breaks, and break sagain, and again, then I will never ever buy a Samsung product EVER. Same gos for HP. Might be they make great industry quality printers, yet the HP Photosmart 720 (Point-and-shoot) I had was 5 times in for repair in a year. No way I am getting a HP product ever again.

Its just the way I select things. :)

Well, I managed to break something on my Kata Source 261PL. (I accidently closed the cars door on that plastic part, and it broke.)
I wrote them a mail, requesting for a spare part if possible, since they have purchased Kata Bags.

They wrote an automated reply on May 10th, with ticket number 41191 that they got my mail, and will look into things.

I got no response, so I wrote them again that the ticket has still not been serviced this was on August 12th.

No reply since then.
