Thank you everyone for your kind and enthusiastic comments. I think I can now safely junk some creeper shots from earlier years.

And Steve, I think you may be thinking of the inverted nuthatches; creepers typically fly to the base of a tree and work their way upwards and seldom appear upside down.

Thank you, Steve and Brian; I appreciate it. The interesting thing is that the light was by no means great; it was fairly overcast. So I dropped my shutter speed down even lower than usual, down to 1/125 sec, and hoped I could hold things steady enough. And it worked!
