Huh? Are you looking for special recognition for being first? OK, here you go: Congratulations for being the very first to break the news...that is the kind of cutting-edge report that will surely propel your journalism career to new heights!

In all seriousness though, I sure hope it turns out to be true. :D

hahaha....

I am still hoping it turns out to be a 28 f/1.4 I really liked the 28 f/2 but when I used it I really needed something wider. Now, that focal length would be perfect for me.

You mean "wider" aperture and not wider field of view, right? Anyway, I agree with you 100%. 28mm is a nice modest wide-angle, fantastic for landscapes and streetscapes. That is my preferance too. Still, I won't complain about a 24mm though.

No, I meant a wider wide-angle lens. At that time, my widest lens was a 35, but it was not wide enough for what I wanted. I tried the Zeiss 28 f/2 and loved it, but when the Zeiss 21 was announced, I knew that would be perfect for my needs, and it was. So, instead of getting the 28, I got the 21 f/2.8. Now, however, a 28 Otus would be perfect between my 15 & 55.

Ah, ok. Thanks for clarifying. Wish I had that 15mm. I keep thinking about it. :)

But the f/1.4 is at the moment only guessing or hope.

No doubt it'll be sharp.

What I want to know is how many aperture blades it will have.

Odd number = good. Even number = I'll pass.

Even numbers of blades make for horrible sunstars, which is why otherwise-great lenses like the TS-E 24L and 70-200L struggle with cityscapes full of sunstars created by street lights.

Both the Otus 55mm and 85mm have nine aperture blades. I imagine Zeiss will continue to do the right thing with future Otus lenses.
