WOW that thing is a blatant copy of the Canon. And ugly.

It'd have to cost $99 to even be worth talking about.

I really like the YN-500EX...if this thing performs well and costs near nothing, I'll try it. :)

This is just F'ed up. Blatant legal violation again from China. This is exactly why I will not buy any of these Chineese knockoffs. If you look at lighting modifiers, the copying is even worse from China. I don't care how much money I save, it's not right.

I would think if any group of people would get it, I would think it would be photographers. Any one here would be pissed as hell seeing one of their images being marketed by some stranger in another country. This is exactly the same idea.

Wha?

It's a copy of the Canon. Pretty much an exact copy. In this case, you are right, it is "blatantly legal" because the canon 50mm 1.4 is out of patent. It's ancient. Yeah, it's that old. Canon has only itself to blame for their 50mm 1.4 being *REALLY* old. If your lens is so old that a company can legally copy it...it's probably time for an update, guys.

This is the whole point of patents. Hopefully YN can produce it for like $90 and have it be just as good as the Canon. Then hopefully the Canon stops selling completely, because they are charging too much for it...and then must update it to a modern design.

Literally the complaining about this lens is exactly like someone complaining about someone coming up with a copy of the Ford Pinto and complaining that it's a rip off of Ford. Well, yes, it would be. But the analogy does break down at this point, because Ford isn't *still selling the Pinto*. lol
