First Look Photos

While scanning through my weddings looking for photos for a blog post, I settled on the following set as one of my favorite 'first look' sessions I've photographed in the last couple of years.

It's true that I was perhaps unwise to allow the bridal party to linger nearby--as you can see the flower girl runs in at the end. But it seemed to work out well in the end.

I think the flower girl is a great addition.

Excellent set. The last shot is perfectly framed and timed. So refreshing to see non-trendy-airy-light wedding photos!

No strobes used--I mean, how could I use them amongst all of these trees ? These were shot ambient with the sun behind to avoid light falling in splotches on the wedding couple. The light obviously isn't ideal in terms of how it falls on the subjects (note the grooms dark eyes in the first shot. But natural seemed like the way to go for this couple and this environment.

Great captures. The darkness in the eyes is just fine for instances like these. I love the last shot, and the layering in it. I would say the same layering or foreground could have been utilized in the first few photos too... to give more of "looking in" feel.
