Made this impromptu shot the other day, and curious if it has any redeeming qualities. Obviously it's more of a closeup than macro, but I wasn't sure where to put it. I'll post it up in post processing also to get ideas.

Yes, I'm pretty new at all of this.

This kind of stuff is fun to do. Some are more successful than others. This one is pretty good. There is some mystery about that blue ball. The lighting is good. I think I would have tried to get more of the pavement in sharp focus.

Cool. So you selectively blurred the asphalt areas? Is that done in LR?
Interesting the different takes....one person prefers more focus, one less.
I know this exact spot so I might be able to go back and try a little tighter aperture to get more in focus as I probably didn't have the camera parallel to the ground (dodging cars in the parking lot). I'll also bring my 100mm along.

Thanks all!

This is interesting. I may give it a go myself. By the way, good post and good photo.

Playing around with the image in LR, it appears to be much more than a selective focus adjustment that KillerClown did. It almost made the asphalt rocks 'watery'; photoshop effect? What a neat learning exercise in a number of ways. Thanks folks.

Yes I did this quick fix in cs6 using layers, added a filter, converted to black and white then brought the blue back, whole job in less than a minute......
I don't use these type of things in macro and I don't think they would work but macro is not my main topic....

Thanks. I'll play around with he LR filters and see what kind of effects are pleasing.
I liked the picture because it's like a naturally occurring, selective color shot.

Thanks for all the helpful input folks. I moved this to the Critique Corner.
I was able to get some more shots today and try out many of the suggestions from everyone.
