Sold my 5D3 a few weeks ago and kinda missing my slr so thinking about getting back in the game. Since I sold ALL my stuff (well, except for a small flash which no one seems interested in), I have the somewhat luxury to be able to choose whatever system I want.

I'm currently very much considering the Nikon D750. Seems like a camera which is very close to the 5D3 in almost all areas, coupled with a better sensor. And price is right too.

One of many things holding me a little back is it's a Nikon. I don't have any loyalty to whatever brand, but I have been shooting Canon from the 10D and went through a lot of bodies. So the least I can say is I "know" Canon. Going to Nikon would be a fresh start but also a lot of learning (I hardly knew the difference between FX and DX).

Anyone ever switched from Canon > Nikon, very much interested in hearing your experience. I'm not looking for a discussion saying "Canon is better, Nikon sucks". Both brands are very strong names and have good lineups. I'm talking about user experience, support etc

I started with canon, then moved to sony mirrorless, and am now using a D810. Im in love with the camera, and have no regrets going with Nikon, instead of back to canon.

Started with a 20D many eons ago, had a 1Ds. Sold the 1Ds, bought a Nikon F5. Now shoot with a D600 and 14-24. No regrets at all. Might get a D750, but might get a D810.

Dragoro, shooting with a6000 now and getting very nice shots from it, but unfortunately Sony lacks something comparable to the Tamron 27-70/2.8, both on APSC and FF so that's why I'm considering to getting a D750.

Most of the native lenses for the sony mirrorless are mediocre at best, and still cost a fortune. Their wide angle is 1k and only so so. And using adapters to attach non native lens is a pain in the rear, not to mention no auto focus for canon cropped lens series.

I know it has drawbacks, but from what I have read the primes are amazing on Spny, but that is another discussion. Looking forward to more experiences here!

Jumped from a 6D to D610 in February. My only regret is that the D610 (aka, non-defective D600) didn't come out a year earlier so I could've made the jump that much sooner. The files from this camera absolutely curbstomp everything from Canon, at least for the type of scenes I shoot. I love it and no longer feel my gear is limiting me, as I did with Canon.

I haven't switched simply because the Nikon system is not as good for my uses. However for many photographers Nikon has some very good products that have advantages over Canon for certain uses.
As I said Nikon doesn't suit me but it is a damn good system that suits many better than Canon (or others) do, so regret nothing and just enjoy your gear and what it will do.

i made my jump from nikon to canon about 1999 and never looked back,as i think canon was way ahead in digital cameras, but it seams nikon is now better at censers thanks to sony, one thing i'll say is the digital world is changing along with computers so no longer do i see just these two brands.

Jumped from Canon to Nikon after the 5D MKII came out and went with the D700 instead. Zero regrets.

FYI, you may want a D800 or D810 instead. The D750 is actually the D610 replacement. Smaller body and no AF ON button. The buffer size isn't that large.

I went to Nikon because I wanted cheaper bodies with more advanced features. Canon sucks in this regard. I was using a 1dmarkIII and didn't want to spend more than $500 for a more advanced body. What could I have gotten from Canon with $500, in the prosumer level body? NOTHING. The next best thing is the 7D but it was priced higher on the used market. I settled for a D7000. Although the body is smaller but AF performance is equal to my 1dmarkIII. It supports 14bit raw file. Then, I sold my Canon 30d backup kit and got the D300. I love it. It has a better ergonomic than the D7000 although somewhat outdated. It supports 14bit raw file too. I only paid less than $400. Now, the lens here is interesting. You can use many older Nikon AF D lenses on the cheap, less than $200. Some of these lenses were considered good enough for the pros.

Again, I have no regret. With Canon, they market their L lenses too much and everybody thinks that you need to spend over 1k for one to get good image quality.

Oh, forgot, Nikon wins hands down when comes to Auto WB setting. I haven't really needed to adjust the WB with my shots at all. Matrix metering is generally accurate.

I've been a Nikon user since I bought my first Nikon (a Nikon F) second hand in 1975. I still have the camera. This started a long love affair with Nikons.

In 1978 I got a job in the photographic unit of a large heavy industrial plant where we used mainly Nikons as our 35mm equipment. Medium format and 4x5 also. Over the years I owned quite a few Nikons. Nikon F, Nikkomat ELW, Nikon F2AS Photomic (my favourite all time Nikon), FE, FE2 (still have it), F801S, F90X (still have it) Nikon F4.

I worked as a pro photographer for 28 years and most of those using Nikon. In 1990 I was offered a job at a medium sized daily newspaper where they'd been using Nikon for decades. In 1999 the newspaper began moving over to digital. We were the first newspaper in Australia to go fully digital under the Fairfax umbrella. Fairfax threw money at us and we bought 11 Canon D2000 kits. Fairfax Media wanted us to be entirely digital for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The D2000 worked out to be a pile of junk. A couple of years later the first Canon 1D were released and things improved.

Now,, I have gone the other way, Nikon ---> Canon. Had the newspaper stayed with Nikon I'd be shooting with Nikon today.

By the way,, I still have a bag full of Nikkor lenses from 20mm to 300mm.

There are a couple of lenses I'd like in the Nikon system like the 200/2.8L (the old 180/2.8 is only screw drive and the Omega camera I want to use it on can only drive AFS compatible lenses, and the zooms are typically double the price) and the 400/5.6L. It'd be nice to have more cross type sensors off centre too
