Bull Elk

I (and many others with big white lenses) found this bull elk and his harem in a pond just east of Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone NP. 1D3 and Sigma 100-300 f/4 + 1.4 TC.

Thank you, It was 77F/25C on Sunday when I took these. Pretty warm for October.

Glad somebody found them. I was there 9/24 and drove from West Yellowstone over Dunraven Pass to Soda Butte and back and never saw a single elk. Lotsa bison and antelope and a few big horns, but no elk.

Thanks Mel. I had despaired of seeing any elk and returning to Mammoth there was the bull and his harem in a pond. Many of my trips have been zeros for wildlife. I hope to have more images done tomorrow.
