just got the sx 60 from digital rev( £359)couldn,t have picked a worse day to try it out,
severe wind with heavy rain(east Scotland)headed for a sheltered location which meant a lot of shade hence the iso 1000_1600,hoping to give it a better try out tomorrow, first pic shows the location of the dipper(centre)the last pic is a heavy crop

Unfortunately the surroundings don't make for a great pic - lack of light etc - no fault of yours. However it does show what the zoom is capable of, especially as it took me ages to find the bird in the first pic :)

I would be interested in seeing more pics if you would care to share them and also hearing your thoughts about the camera. For some reason all the interest over the past year when everyone was asking when the SX60 would arrive has diminished to a whisper. I guess people are waiting to see how good this camera really is. I owned the SX50 but found the handling poor so I'm hoping this has improved.

All the best,
AL

Let me try again for the 21mm shot with the SX60HS:

The house is the thickest "clump" of trees near the center on the ridge.
The previous shots I posted were taken at the end of the optical zoom = 1365mm
And the closeup shot with the covered swinging sofa is with the digital interpolation around 2600mm

All hand held.

It has some "reach"

You could probably get a sharper shot than these.

I stupidly decided to do a 6 mile hike after dumping 60lbs in weight in 15 weeks.

So along with no exercise for years I wasn't very steady at all.

In fact... I thought I was going to do a face plant.

sorry for taking so long to reply,i was waiting for the storms to pass (east Scotland) so I could give the camera a try but its still very stormy here, below are three pics I have taken in the last two weeks, the shovelers were taken in the rain, the robin pic was taken with the 1.6 converter switched on,(didn,t actually need it the robin landed 15 feet away)the iso was 1250 ,there is no iso button on the sx 60 so its auto iso,the video is superb but hard to get handheld

I don't know if you are aware of this but if you shoot in P, Av, Tv modes you can set the ISO by pressing the function button (centre) and using the up, down, left, right buttons.

Considering the high ISO the robin pic is great.
