My brother and his girl friend are due to have their first child in December and as a gift I wanted to get them a better camera then their phones but, not sure where to look. For them I think a mirror less would be best to keep it small and light weight and id like to keep it in the $350-450 range. Obviously being a canon shooter my first thought was the Eos-M but, what should I consider from other manufacturers? I know Sony has the A5000 and I've been reading up on it and trying to compare it to the eos-m.

Gripped Nikon D810, S35 F1.4 Art, S50 F1.4 Art, Nikon 85 F1.8G, Tamron 70-200 F2.8 G2, Godox Xpro N, (2) Godox AD200, Godox AD600pro

I can't speak to the other brands, but i'll throw my vote in for the M. Even for someone who doesn't want to get into shooting Manual, the Eos M does a bang up job of acting like a point and shoot, but with killer IQ. At $300 it's a no brainer IMO. Mine shipped with the latest firmware, and I must say I'm uber impressed with the little camera. A non photo pro/enthusiast will appreciate the touch screen shutter (just touch on the screen exactly where you want focus to be and viola, picture taken).

Another vote for the M. I don't think you can beat it in the sub $400 market.
