Hi,

I know Canon drops prices dramatically for lenses during Christmas season, but this lens could come in super duper helpful next weekend (gonna be taking lots of shots in ultra low light). For those who have watched the prices for a few seasons, do you think they are going to drop prices for this relatively new lens?

I'm going to buy this lens sooner or later, but if I'm going to save $200 if I am patient, well, I guess I might as well be patient.

Thanks! :)

I want to replace my 16-35 2.8L with the new f/4 version and I'm waiting until the Christmas season as I think there is a pretty decent chance we'll see a great deal on this lens. Personally, it's worth waiting for me.

If it is ultra low light will a f 4 cut it? A siggy 35 at 1.4 maybe? Always rentAl options for your immediate needs

Yes. Bigger aperture is not always the solution.

I usually shoot this with a 16-35 2.8 ii and some other big aperture prime. The IS of the new 16-35 is good for 3-4 stops so it more than makes up for the aperture in shake reduction. Also more dof the better in ultra wides.

Rental is almost never a good option if u have enough $ to buy. It's a waste of money especially for lenses that do not depreciate much. That's my opinion of course. But it's almost always more economical to buy and resell than to rent. That's of course logically true since the lender must make money and if lens depreciates more than they rent for the lender is losing money.

Black Friday might bring a deal sooner than Christmas.

True. If I remeber correctly last year's rebates and soon after double dips started early November?

I doubt this lens will be on sale this holiday season. It's still new and selling well at full price.
