which one will you pick? They are both about 400mm. The former has IS, but may have slower AF, more flexible. Later will probably have better IQ and AF? Did I miss anything? which will you prefer?

kevindar Cream of the Crop 5,050 posts Likes: 38 Joined May 2007 Location: california More info | Oct 07, 2014 23:04 | #2 the 400L has better af than the bare 300, and would have a very substantially better af than 300 with tc. same is also true about image quality. the 300 has much shorter mfd, and great magnification, even more so with 1.4x, and it has IS. if you are shooting huming birds, the 300 is better. If you are are primarily shooting near 400, get either the 400L or 100-400L My Flickr
