Fall in the Gatineaus

Here is a photo shot in Gatineau Park (just over the Quebec border from Ottawa) off one of the trails. I was mainly attracted to the vertical birch elements in the scene--which I shot long to compress--but also was attracted to the stark colors of the central tree: a kind of reminder that fall had jarringly arrived.

Wondering about the well-placed dark blurry patches...

OOF green leaves. At the time they were a bit of a practical annoyance (I just didn't have a cleared view across the marsh) but I was thinking it helped created atmosphere, a sense of discovering this hidden thing. But, yeah, I think they're perhaps a bit 'blobby' and a bit of a nuisance upon reflection.
