So I ordered a 30 F2 IS from ebay Cameta. They shipped via FedEx and it was stated it was delivered. I never got the package FedEx claimed they delivered. Now I have to go process of claiming, etc etc. I don't get why they don't do signature required on items more than $500. To save some $$? This case I think it may have been FedEx's fault for either delivering wrong address or left it in front without ringing the bell. Just venting. I'm sure others have came to similar situations. Wondering what your thoughts and what was done. Probably a lesson learned and spend a few more $ and use Amazon/BH Photo, etc?

The retailer should go through the process of claiming, and not you. You should just ask them to ship you a new one, and/or open an eBay/PayPal dispute. They cannot prove that you received the item.

I probably would change the title since you think it is a FedEx problem and not the vendor. I've had FedEx, UPS, and USPS all misplace packages.

The retailer should definitely take the lead and fixing this. Opening a paypal dispute would definitely be my course of action if they refused to take any action.

As someone who has moonlighted in retail this is not what is needed. They gave the part to FedEx. Even when I have requested signature required they still ring the doorbell and walk off.

The seller has proof of delivery, which means they would almost certainly win the PayPal dispute. A credit card chargeback is probably the only viable option.

Huh, that brings up an interesting conundrum - are retailers required to play by the same rules as private sales when using Paypal (i.e. is signature required on a purchase of $250 or more if the payment method is Paypal) to confirm receipt of the item purchased?

Are u sure that's the policy? Cause it used to be plain tracking was good enough.

And heck yeah they give packages to wrong people. Once I received a package for someone on the other side of a huge complex. I walked it over myself to the right owners. And it was huge and heavy.

Yes, they have the same rules, but PayPal raised the signature confirmation minimum to $750 several months ago.

Huh, not sure if I agree with that call, but I won't thread-jack.

The seller sent me a claim form and processing it. They said it will take 2 weeks to process and provide me a refund. That's still a long time considering i ordered a week ago. Was hoping to have something to use for my videography. Thanks all for your input and suggestions.

You can't file a claim with fedex, your not there customer, cameta paid fedex, cameta has to be the one to file a claim, it sounds like your assuming a few things, also you never said what cameta's response was, have you even contacted them? A PayPal dispute is not the right way to go, if you file a paypal dispute all cameta has to do is prove they gave the package to fedex with the correct address and when they do that they upheld there end they didn't do anything wrong, dispute closed.

Contact cameta inform them the tracking number shows delivered and you haven't received your package and ask them what do your need to do (be nice about it give them a chance to fix the problem), they will file a claim with fedex, they can check that route with GPS to see if and when the delivery person was there. If you don't hear anything within 5 days inform cameta you are doing a chargeback. If they say fedex claims they delivered the package still file a chargeback. I work for ups.

No, they need proof that FedEx delivered the package, even if that "proof" is wrong because FedEx delivered it to the wrong place. Proof of mailing is not sufficient. Just ask the thousands of eBay sellers who thought they were covered just because they could prove that they dropped the package off at the Post Office/UPS/FedEx.

In my experience, delivery confirmation doesn't hold up with ebay unless there's a signature.

I've had a buyer get an item, leave positive feedback for it, and then claim they never got it. I provided the delivery confirmation (but no signature) to ebay. Guess what, I lost....

I require a signature for everything I sell on there and amazon now.

I've bought from cameta several times. last time I checked their ebay feedback I think they had an approval rating in the hi-90s with like 50k transactions.

stuff happens and when it does we get inconvenienced
