SO, nothing against Helen, as she is always very responsive to my queries -- but what puzzles me in this age of electronic tracking, when individual buyers can know the instant something ships, and track it all the way to our doors, why Adorama is only guessing it will arrive tomorrow - and not know for certain on a shipment that large -- and a complete new product that I assume quite a few customers have ordered, and has been anticipated for quite some time now.

So, I'm pretty puzzled by that response - or lack of info --

Because, we prefer to under-promise and under-deliver. We have been advised to expect it tomorrow, but we get a freak storm overnight, the truck is hijacked - or simply breaks down - and we've told you something as fact that may not be!
Until it gets here, it's always an ETA.

Then I asked why she wouldn't know if she had them in the warehouse.

She said; I'm sorry, I have no idea. But B&H are three times the size of Adorama, and are also expecting deliveries tomorrow:

NB My response "I have no idea" was in reply to your question: Helen - do you have any reason why so many stores have it already, and not Adorama?

I did check with the warehouse, and advised you that we are expecting a delivery tomorrow......

Hm.. Local shop said they'd call again today to ask about when I'd come get the camera. Now I wonder if they either didn't get the shipment or forgot to call. Now I gotta call otherwise and potentially have to wait as well.

Kudos to her for even replying to you.

After she clearly explained that they wouldn't have any in until the 30th and then you ask again if they have any in (before the 30th) and then wonder why she doesn't know if they have any in the warehouse (before the 30th) I think if I was her my reply to you would be less professional.

Which is why I don't have her job I guess.

Why not just wait until the 30th? or by local if you can't wait that long?

I think I copied the emails backwards -- and including all would take much more space because it makes more sense that way ... and this is not all the emails either. I wanted to know, if they expected to deliver on the 30th, if they had any in the warehouse yet? She said she didn't know -- then on her last email, she said they expected cameras on the 30th. SO,think backwards here and I won't sound quite so nasty :) My error.

Helen always responds well to queries -- and if the expect to ship on 30th, I'd expect someone to know it ... especially in this age of tracking. So, it surprises me that a large wholesaler doesn't actually track deliveries ... so, it's surprise, not meant to be negative or accusatory -- sometimes emails appear "meaner" than meant -- I like Helen, she always responds and takes care of business when she can ...

And if you had her job and responded in the manner you implied, you'd be unemployed pretty quickly, I bet. I was trying to give everyone information, and am still surprised a company does not know / track its deliveries -- I certainly would, especially if I had a group of buyers waiting on a new release camera that has been a topic of this much controversy on forums. But, that's just me -- others do things differently. :)

There is one very well known manufacturer, (I won't mention the name on this board....) who not only doesn't ever send us any tracking info, but doesn't even advise us when a shipment has been sent!

As I explained above. We are expecting them to arrive tomorrow - Thursday.

But I am not prepared to give anyone an iron-clad 100% guarantee that they WILL arrive tomorrow!
