Really wondering what is up with B+H....

Did Amazon ever ship any directly? I've only seen them selling them from third party suppliers. I did see they had some kits in themselves.

Perhaps they had so many pre-orders, they were out of stock as soon as those were filled.

So just to make life confusing I have set the AF ON button to AF OFF. Really enjoying the control options and I think I pretty much have them figured out...

My pre-order was direct from amazon. I think all the pre-orders were amazon and 3rd party offers showed up after the camera was released.

Thx, Tom. I wasn't paying close enough attention at the very beginning of the process. I have one on order now but it won't ship until Amazon replenishes their own stock. I don't want to buy from one of their third party suppliers. I'm probably being anal about it.... but that's the way I prefer it for large purchases.

When purchasing on amazon.com I always prefer to deal directly with them as a seller. I'll pay a bit more at times but get the best product and service dealing directly. In the case of something important like a camera or lens I would only deal with amazon on their site again for the service and lack of hassle if there are any problems.

I have purchased from B&H and Adorama in the past and never had a problem but usually for items not on amazon's site or at a much better price purchasing direct.

I am going through my gear list and updating dates purchased on cameras, lenses and accessories. Another advantage with amazon is you can search your purchase history and get the date (and price) of anything you have purchased. The items I am not sure of the date about are the things I bought someplace else.

Yep, me too. I went directly to Canon. They even had the grip. Got 3% cash back with Mr. Rebates, so I will recoup half my tax payment. I just couldn't wait.

I like that Adorama was tossing in a free battery with the kit purchase. I am actually glad about having the 18-135 STM. I need to try it out with the focus speed adjustments during video enabled..and get a hood for it.

Yes, I have been with them about that long. I certainly remember books. We had an 8 foot tall bookshelf fall over in the earthquake and we used the cleanup as an opportunity to get rid of a lot of books. I had a lot of reference books that I used quite a bit at one time but the Internet has replaced most of that. I kept some for sentimental value but most got donated to the local library.

I also am very happy with the kit lens. I shot with it quite a bit yesterday and I think it will be my walkaround outdoor lens. When I preordered the 7D2 kit I purchased this knock-off hood and it has worked well the bit I have used it.
