I suspect that next Friday would be more likely as they will be shipping on Thursday if I understand the release date correctly. I wouldn't mind a Thursday arrival though.

Umm BB always have 18mos and sometimes 36mos no interest and I have BB card and have not use it for a while maybe it's time for me to convince the wife (Again)

Yep. Saw that. Now I am convinced - and ready. Conowingo Dam here I come.

Adorama has free overnight shipping and no tax unless you live in NY and NJ I believe. They are on backorder though. I just ordered mine the other day and they sent an email saying they will ship in the order that people placed the orders.

I pre ordered locally, but going to call BB on wed or thurs next week to see if they have it. I got the tamron 150-600 locally a day before it was "released"

I read on another thread that Chuck Westfall said Canon is sending out the shipments to the stores on 10-30.

I would'nt expect them to start shipping until the 1st week of November, if the the ship to dealer date is 10/30.

If Canon's site says 10/30 on their order page (which is a consumer order page, not a dealer page), then they should ship on 10/30. If Best Buy has sent preorder emails saying that the cameras will ship on 10/30, then undoubtedly that is the date their customers should also expect. I have no doubt cameras will be on their way to customers on 10/30, and some should have them by 10/31.

When you pre-order books, CDs, and Movies, they arrive on release day. Camera's need to get on this "drop" model.

NOTE from Adorama "it is expected to arrive October 30 - but this can always change."

Which makes me think - Adorama gets it Oct 30, processes it thru warehouse, and ship in a day or so. Altho it could mean Adorama ships Oct 30 ... either way, it's not far off and we can expect to see some "in the field" reviews and images soon -- Great news!! Ever seen a Monkey smile??

They most likely have the shipment the prior day and will unload and stock shelves if necessary. Shipping to customers should commence on 10/30, based on all the consumer-facing ship dates. Ship dates advertised to the customer should not, and most likely never, means the date that the retailer expects to receive pallets on their shipping dock.

Of course, having written software (and currently at this very moment making changes to the pricing model and invoice screens) for complete shipper/carrier door to door transportation solutions (all the way to the FMS) for years may cloud my perspective.
